Local Chefs Providing Meals for This Weekend'sSecond Annual Tennessee Local Food SummitFriday, Nov. 30th reception hosted by new Sunflower CafeNashville, TN (November 27, 2012) - Local chefs will be providing the food for this weekend's Second Annual Tennessee Local Food Summit. The new Sunflower Cafe, 2834 Azalea Place, Nashville, will host the opening a farm-to-table reception on Friday, November 30 at 6:00 p.m, followed by a discussion "Why Care About Local Food?".Saturday's lunch and dinner at the day long Local Food Summit hosted by Green Door Gourmet Meeting House, 7011 River Road Pike, Nashville, will feature meals prepared by several area local chefs, including: Laura Wilson, Grow Local Kitchen; Tyler Brown, Capitol Grille; Hal Holden-Bache, Lockeland Table; Guerry McComas from The Yellow Porch; James Peisker from Porter Road Butcher; Robert Spinelli of Perl Catering; Kathleen Cotter of The Bloomy Rind; Kristin Beringson of Holland House; and Dave Cuomo of Bella Nashville.In addition to the two meals, Saturday will include a full day of workshops and an evening barn dance. The Tennessee Local Food Summit is organized by area sustainable farmers and will once again be geared to home gardeners, farmers, students, consumers, and anyone interested in learning about local food and our local food system.The Turnip Truck Natural Food Markets, The Nashville Scene, Local Table Magazine, Sunflower Cafe, and Green Door Gourmet are sponsors for the weekend of events.A full list of speakers and workshops can be found at www.tnlocalfood.com.Workshops on Saturday will include tracks on Building Healthy Soil, Organic Farming/Gardening, Marketing/Distribution, Cooking/Preservation featuring local chef demos.
