Join the Cumberland River Compact and the Sierra Club Clarksville-Montgomery County chapter at the Wade Bourne Nature Center for a workshop that goes a step beyond Integrated Pest Management (IPM)—an approach to farming and gardening that focuses on soil health as a means to naturally minimize pest pressure. IPM management supports clean water by improving the soil’s water-holding capacity, reducing erosion, and eliminating herbicides in our waterways.
In this one-hour workshop, we will explore pest management in diversified vegetable production through a soil health lens. Master Gardeners, newbie growers, and farmers alike will enjoy this presentation. Special focus will be placed on learning how to “co-farm” with specific insects and what their presence can reveal about soil and crop health, so that growers may avoid disrupting the ecosystem.
The class will be led by Tera Ashley, an experienced practitioner with nine years in organic, regenerative agriculture, including intensive vegetable production, agroforestry, and carbon farming. She is passionate about soil health and co-farming with insects.
