HIRING: Greenhouse Assistant at Crabtree Farms of Chattanooga

Terms: Part-time, 20 hours/week through 2024 with potential for Full Time in 2025; Required hours M-TH, 9am - 12pm; $16/hour

Job Description: Greenhouse Assistant position works directly in tandem with the Greenhouse Manager to develop and implement a successful greenhouse operation including the facilitation of a robust greenhouse volunteer program.

Key Functions:

  • ●  Perform general greenhouse tasks: watering, plant propagation, soil preparation, infrastructure improvements, pest control.

  • ●  Assist Greenhouse Manager with Spring and Fall Plant Sale preparations

  • ●  Facilitate the Greenhouse Volunteer and Workshare Program. Within this role responsibilities

    include:

    • ○  Communicate with and schedule volunteers/workshares

    • ○  Lead volunteers/workshares on daily tasks with Greenhouse Manager support

    • ○  Plan weekly itinerary with Greenhouse Manager the week prior

      General Skills & Experience:

      Qualifications:

  • ●  Previous experience leading volunteers or facilitating groups.

  • ●  Minimum one year horticulture or agricultural experience.

  • ●  Highly motivated and eager to work in a community-facing organization.

  • ●  The individual should be able to lift 50 pounds and work actively outside in all seasons.
